Michelle’s magical fiddle and fri. night etc.
Michelle talented violinist extroardinare even played recently in a fiddling contest as a fiddling finalist this past summer. We went to see her play tonight at Old Town School of Folk Music’s First Friday’s when she played with her blue grass band and were talked into actually square dancing. Now, Cinchel won’t dance to soul or hip hop or indie rock but he’ll square dance? Without any alcohol in system?
?!? Well, anyways, I’m not so good at following directions (don’t even bring up promenading or dosi doing etc.) but I went along with it because Michelle is such a good fiddler. And no, I don’t have a picture of us square dancing. (Get real!)
Afterwards we went to the Handlebar, this veggie friendly place I love that is very into supporting bicyclists culture and they actually started this thing where the higher the gas prices go, the lower their beer prices are gonna go. It’s an inverse relationship and they have this nice little graph thing on the wall. Very helpful. (When gas hits 6 bucks a gallon, beer is free) I had this beer called Rogue which has a hazelnut sort of taste to it and it was probably one beer to many because an hour later I was singing T Rex in the Home Depot (yes, I know they support republicans but they also sell eco friendly lights so what are ya gonna do?) walkin’ round the aisles going “You’re dirty sweet and you’re my girl,” followed by five minutes later an overdramatic call for a pencil. “A Pencil! A Pencil! My kingdom for a pencil!” Isn’t that uh er how the quote goes?
Oh this blog did have a point because then we went to the Hideout to see one of our fav. local bands and I’m gonna link them up. They are edgy and just right in all of the best places. Great drum sound-kind of like Spoon in some ways but the lead singer has a better voice altogether. Okay they are called The Interiors
Time for bed now or as they might say in T-Rex land: “Get it on. Bang a gong. Get it on!”
I just wanna know was the gong thrown in there just to make some half hearted rhyme come true or did Bolan truly like to bang gongs? I’ll have to google that tomorrow.
