Chin Up Chin Up are a Chicago based band that have, like The Dials had a tragedy befall them when their bassist Chris Saathoff was killed by a drunk driver when leaving the Empty Bottle. (Different incident than the car accident that claimed a Dials band member but it’s just sad to think of how many musicians Chicago has lost in car accidents)

I hadn’t seen Chin Up Chin Up play until now, although I was certainly familiar with their sound overall and knew of them. I found that the music overall is very full and rich and has quite a bit going on. The one thing is that the lead singer of this five piece, Jeremy Bolen has a bit of an unusual voice. It actually sounds kind of Arab Strap like with a bit of a nasal quality and the way he annunciates actually sounds a bit British to me. Live, I kept thinking that perhaps if Christian Bale were a singer, it might sound like that (I realize this thought process comes a little bit out of nowhere but it had to do with the annunciation and the way his mouth and his teeth worked together.)

I won’t ramble on anymore. You can hear them on their Myspace page where you can decide if I’m right or have completely lost it. Here’s more pictures:
