Slumber Party

Wicker Park Street Festival Day One
Chicago
7/22/6
There’s just something about all girl bands I can’t exactly put my finger on. Slumber Party is a four piece from Detroit who combines bass, guitar, and keyboards to create, for the most part, songs on the downbeat. According to a friend who saw them a few years ago, they used to play with drums live but at this show there weren’t any live drums. In some ways, although it was nice to have some sleepy melodies, I wished I could speed up the tempo just a bit as in the “Electronic Boots” remix. The highlight of the show was perhaps the very end song they played: “Late Nite,” which had the most harmonizing between vocalists.
