How PandaCam Ruined My Life

PandaCam

Um…can’t you see I’m a little busy here? Yes, you are interrupting. I wasn’t planning on eating dinner-what if the pandas move? What if they start eating? What if the momma panda starts cuddling with her cute black arms around her little one again? Yes, I realize all I can see is the momma panda’s back right now but don’t you realize that at any moment, the angle could change or the momma panda might roll over with her baby clutched against her. It’s time for bed already? But just look at the cute pandas sleeping! How can I go to bed now when I can watch this-oh look! They are rolling over again. Yeah, I know I haven’t been to work in a week but don’t you understand it’s much more fun to watch pandas during the daylight hours when they are more likely to be awake and playful. Oh look! Look! If you look really closely, it’s almost like the baby panda opened her big eyes at the camera! Aw look she’s almost smiling. No, I’m not going to bed. Sleep is overrated. Yeah I’ll eat a late dinner with you but um…I can bring PandaCam to the table, right? Oh no! Something is wrong with my computer! What did you do to my computer? I think the pandas were about to wake up and eat some bamboo! I’m going to miss it now. Wait! Come back here with that-where are you going? Give it back or I’ll cry! You don’t get it do you? What if the pandas do something??? No! Please don’t throw my laptop out of the window! I promise I’ll start eating and going to work again if you just let me make sure the pandas are okay and NOOOOOOOOOOO!

They really are! I guess there is a pandacam out there for the San Diego zoo panda as well. When will the madness end?

yeah you know that is a great idea. You know, I think pandas are very cuddly looking and that’s possibly deceptive. What do you think? I was just thinking an animal that spends that much time eating only bamboo shoots can’t be half bad. Then again, raccoons look pretty friendly too.

  5. ct Says:

I think it must be deceptive, but they look very cuddly.

I just can’t imagine eating bamboo for twelve hours a day.

I’ve heard they actually are quite bear-like, so approach with caution…but pandas are indeed very cute, and pandacam IS addictive. I actually saw the two adults pandas in Washington D.C. a couple of years ago, and spent a good hour just watching them eating bamboo…Awwww! ;-)

You know, I don’t think I have actually seen a panda in real life. But I did have an ostrich steal my mitten at a zoo once. Yeah, yeah not nearly as thrilling.

I heard about an incident in China where a panda just seemed to get spooked and attack so yeah probably not so cuddly. Hey you know what I heard-that usually panda moms only have one baby at a time so when occasionally they have twins, someone has to keep switching the babies because the mom will only take care of one at a time. I want that job! Like what are the prerequisites? What would you put on a resume? I’m really fast? I’m familiar with mistaken identity? I have memorized all the life stages of panda? When one of the babies isn’t with his or her mom, I will play and cuddle with it all day? Sounds good.
