The Hidden Cameras

7/22/6
Wicker Park Street Festival
Day One
Chicago
With eight people on stage always giving it their all, The Hidden Cameras are just about the most exciting band you’re bound to see live. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, they write indie pop songs with full melodies and harmonizing. I’ve seen The Hidden Cameras three times now. The first time was opening up for Belle and Sebastian and they were all wearing animal costumes. The second was at The Subterranean and was unfortunately around the time that quite a bit of their gear was stolen. It was nice to see them outside for the first time and the crowd was completely into it. I ended up meeting quite a few people who just came to see them and we all danced and rejoiced to be in their presence. In a way, it was almost like a big party for Canada.
The Hidden Cameras played a good mix of new and old material with a good hour length set that culminated in “Music is my Boyfriend.” Their setlist is as follows:
Death of a Tune
Hump
In the Union of Wine
Heji
She’s Gone
Lollipop
Day is Dawning
Learning the Lie
Enema
The Waning Moon
Wandering
Doot Doot Ploot
Ban Marriage
Music is my Boyfriend
