The Coup (wth Silk E)

Wicker Park Street Festival
Day One 7/22/6
Chicago
While I’m politically liberal, it’s fair to say I don’t agree with everything that Oakland California’s The Coup sings or says in their lyrics. However, I do feel strongly that it is important to be politically active and expressive and you can definitely say that for The Coup. Captivating to watch, The Coup combined elements of hip hop and funk with an undeniably provacative stage presence. Silk E joined the band to add some vocals. She was vibrant with a great R&B voice that really brought to life the music behind her. You can read a little about the band’s history here and listen to songs by visiting their myspace page
