I get such a kick out of bands with incredibly long names that you can’t help but remember. Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin hails from, oddly enough Missouri and when they said their home town I cheered just because I figured if you were in Chicago having come all the way from Missouri, wouldn’t you want someone to show some respect?

SSLYBY creates catchy little indie pop numbers about love and relationships mainly (I mean, what other topics in music are there, right?) They put on a good set and I kept thinking lead singer John Robert Cardwell looks exactly like Jarvis Cocker albeit about twenty years younger. The band combines guitar, bass, drums, and tambourine in addition to Cardwell’s vocals.

Check out their album Broom, which is full of pop goodies, on Polyvinyl
