I <3 Orouni

This is what happens when you have time and are too tired to do anything else and then you find lipstick.

For those of you who may have thought I am above writing the names of bands and musicians on a bathroom mirror in lipstick well…think again!

Orouni is a band I have recently discovered. I am not totally sure if he (as in the lead singer Rémi) has a label or a distributor or even if he has officially released his songs but he has made tracks available to be downloaded for free here

Now, Orouni is French (I think he’s French. He lives in Paris now but it seems like he lived in Denmark for awhile. In fact, I found a blog account of him playing a music festival in Denmark and I am almost positive he’s wearing a Delgados shirt, which is another band I happen to love.) but unfortunately Rémi sings in English. However, he has one of those sweet French accents when he sings in English that makes me want to pretend I’m a girl in the 60s watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in black and white while gasping and clutching and sighing and swooning and…ok maybe I’m just going a bit too far with this…but you get the idea, right?

You can also read Rémi’s blog if you happen to know French. And the songs are really good! The influences he cites in his bio include:The Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan and Belle and Sebastian. His band name is taken from the French translation of Kerouac’s On the Road.
