Best of Myspace Music
I’m blogging at home in upstate NY. For any of you unaware, there’s a whole big landmass not associated with NYC where people have very little to do. It’s called upstate NY and that’s where I’m from. There are actually cows in the small town where I’m from. You know, real cows not just plastic ones decorated around the city. I’m talking about cows you actually have to feed…or they die!
I’m going to try to do one of these a day for a bit but I’ll be visiting with family members quite a bit. I do have a best of I will post around New Years.
Bigfinn is from Manchester but the way lead singer Martin Travers (who also somehow plays the shoe…hey, I’d like to get a picture of that!) annunciates at times reminds me just a touch of Nick Cave. I really like the softer sound of “Exhail” especially. Check out “Doggerel” for a bit of a passionate rocker. Any band that cites Bonnie Prince Billy, Tim Buckley, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen and more as an influence is definitely worth hearing just for that in my opinion. Apparently, although the band revolves primarily four members, recordings include guests from Badly Drawn Boy and The Doves.
