Best of Myspace Music

I love bands with a sense of humor. International Airport, a five piece hailing from Glasgow had this to say on their myspace page in the category of sounds like:

“When you have a list of bands that you like, or who you are influenced by, and the first two in the list are fighting in a bar, it sounds a bit like that, and then one of the others pulls a chicken out of a basket, then another one says ‘aargh!’ in the voice of a Yeti…”

I might not need to tell you after even a casual ten second listen to either of the songs they have posted on their myspace page that International Airport does not sound remotely like their description. They don’t sound like airports, either, though. I’d say perhaps a plane nicely coming to a land on “A Vale of Twisted Sendal.” The far better of the two songs, “Comin’ thro’ the Rye” first starts off like a cross between a Jim O’Rourke) song and a Tortoise tune and quickly develops into aome tweeish indie pop that makes you place them quite easily hanging out with the likes of Belle and Sebastian, for instance.
