Rhys Chatham
Not knowing the full extensive history and background, Cinchel wrote up this show instead which is also posted on Radio Free Chicago. I can personally say I enjoyed his set more than I had when I saw him play at Three Million Tongues Festival because there was, in addition, to the rhythm a better flow to the intense buildup of detectable melody…more so than with his metal material. There’s basically two ways of looking at the set if you don’t consider the historical background and are just coming in off the street. You might think This is the same piece for twenty-five minutes or you might let yourself feel a sort of transcendent height and just experience motion in the music and the way the pieces build.
