Cinchel wrote up this show on Radio Free Chicago. I wanted to second his feelings about the band and say how much I loved listening to them (not just because they are Canadian but also because they are extemely talented musicians.) I’ll also agree with the Will Oldham reminscence but also say some of their songs such as Fifteen Hands bring to mind the desperate fragility of A Silver Mt. Zion. Yet, despite the dark insightfulness of some of their lyrics, their disposition was oddly happy and they seemed to be at home in Chicago. One last thing-the violin really adds so much to their songs and I really felt the intensity of the music behind the lyrics as I listened.
