Schubas in Chicago

The Postmarks are from sunny Florida and are headed by the soft female vocals of Tim Yehezkely (oddly enough, that is the name listed for the female lead singer). Though their tweeish brand of pop is subdued, it is very sing songy in a way that reminds one of Camera Obscura only a little less melancholy and gloomy (could be the difference in weather) Their debut self titled album is very girly despite the fact that their are four males backing her up on guitar, drums, bass, and keyboard. In fact, Tim mainly sang and played the occasional toy as she held down a single key on her keyboard. She creates dreamy melodies just with her voice alone that you can’t help but feel is just very very feminine all around. To be sure, that soprano and her stage presence is really what makes this band what it is. This is the band to lie on your backs and look at the shapes of clouds to. These are the songs that remind me of a slower 21st century answer to a more subtle The Free Design and still makes me want to fly kites.
