Awkward Conversations Around Musicians

Well, I haven’t had one of these in awhile. I was recently at Schubas Tavern and waiting for doors to open for the Noisettes/Maccabees show last Sat. A friend and I were around before the set of London’s The Noisettes while they were playing Trivial Pursuit in the bar area and it was really cool to see a laid back Shingai Shoniwa who is not only a fantastic frontwoman but just happens to be way better at Trivial Pursuit than I am. (And I read and stuff, really!)
A card was drawn and passed to a friend but we both had trouble seeing exactly what the card said due to dim lighting so we read it together. I can’t even remember the names it was asking us to identify (it wasn’t Shakespeare, I can tell you that much) but they were very long and difficult to pronounce. It asked what country the three people were from..I’m guessing writers but I honestly don’t know. My friend and I wished for a pop culture version of Trivial Pursuit instead. I said, “I don’t know..my guess would be Germany.” Shingai took the card and read it, “Oh my gosh, this is so easy!”
They were all from England.
Photos from the set are still up on flickr and can be viewed by clicking on this link
