At first I wasn’t so sure about the name of this band but actually it’s a very appropriate one. Spinto apparently refers to a voice or vocal qualities that are dramatic, show range, and have an edge. But to sum up The Spinto Band with this wouldn’t be fair because it leaves out their most important ingredient: catchiness. These boys make me want to dance all night. Youthful and energetic, they come across a little like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Although, their sound overall is less trying to be arty and more working class. I bought their album, Nice and Nicely Done at the show and it’s difficult not to dance around in my own living room. I’ve listened to their single, “Oh Mandy” about twenty times. Today I was making guacamole and without realizing it, bursted out with the chorus while cutting into the avocado. I think what I am getting at here is that it’s addicting, apparently maybe even more so than food.
Hailing from Delaware, these seven guys work so well dynamically with eachother, you can’t help but move your body along with the music. I’d highly recommend seeing them live. It was the most fun I have had in a while.
