Sound Team

1/9/6
Sound Team has become one of my new favorites out of Austin where the great bands seem to keep coming from lately. After touring with Mazarin, they played a headlining show at Schubas in Chicago. The six piece impresses live with just the right balance of catchy indie rock rifts on guitar mixed with minimoog and keyboard melodies that add a desirable fullness. Their five song ep Work shows a great deal of promise.
You can hear sound samples on their myspace page but lately myspace has been frustrating as it keeps stopping to rebuffer songs midway through. This is a link to an mp3 they posted on their site that is also on myspace. It also happens to be my favorite song on their Work ep.
I’ve been thinking more and more about the nature of this blog and I’ve come to the conclusion that really if it had to be categorized, it’s more of a picture blog than anything. When I am not reviewing something, I am usually posting pictures. Even though my digital camera is quite limited, I tend to love taking pictures of bands even though editing them down and making final selections is an excrutitatingly meticulous and time consuming process for me. It’s all worth it when a band or fan of a band sees the pictures and likes them, though. So without further ado, more pictures…

Hey, just want to say these are really, really excellent photos.
I couldn’t make it to the show that night. Did people show up, unlike last time?
No doubt they’re going to be huge. So jealous you got to go.
Let me know!

thanks I am so glad someone liked them! I thought they had a pretty good crowd especially because it was really cold and snowing. They were actually funny about the snow, commenting on how it was one of the first times they had ever seen snow falling.
I am looking forward to a full length from them!
