This was my second time seeing Animal Collective live, although the first time I saw them was in a much smaller place touring for Sung Tongs. Playing in almost darkness at times, their earthy almost organic wholesome feel really comes off live. Although their newest album, Feels, has been said by some to have a more accessible guitar feel to it but live they still come off as they do on Sung Tongs. The songs are much more extended and there is little banter as they easily flow into eachother quite seamlessly. It’s one of those shows where you just want to close your eyes and feel the melodies and beats. Many times, you have to wonder if perhaps they are truly playing songs you’ve heard before on albums or longer extended versions of the essences of the songs.
