Kelley Stoltz

Describing Kelley Stoltz is somewhat difficult for me as the songs seem to vary a bit at least on the album of his that I own: Below the Branches, his 2006 release on sub pop. Songs like, “Memory Collector,” for example, almost remind me of a modern Beatles in terms of the backdrop melody line but other songs of his have a more bluesy feel. One thing is for sure-they are well constructed gems that just feel right. Kelley Stoltz played a real solid set but inbetween songs he did what I love bands for doing-bantering. He rambled about all sorts of things mainly talking about the tour thus far. He was very appreciative of his audience as well as quite modest and the sound while he played was terrific.
