HONEST EDS
Honest Eds was always sort of this basement bargain bin of wonder for me. I’ve only been in there maybe once or twice. It’s really just the feel of the place…like anything can be bought for any price type of feel. Unfortunately, it was raining the night I took a few of these pics from the bus. I kind of like that feeling, though.
When I was very little, Honest Eds stretched out for miles, an endless banquet hall with sales instead of food. It was (and is still) very magnificent in its own way…

I like this family. How they hurriedly move.

This has a very Edward Hopper “Nighthawks” type of feel to it if, you know, Edward Hopper had been Canadian.

SHOPPERS DRUG MART

Oh Shoppers Drug Mart….I’ve had dreams about you…
Shoppers Drug Mart usually has the best Canadian chocolate and the best prices on toothpaste. I won’t reveal just how many times my mom hid hundreds…nay thousands (!) of Coffee Crisp. Mirage, Aero, Smarties, and toothpaste tubes under pillows, in the glove compartment, underneath the seat, and beneath sleeping bags as we passed through the border.
“Do you have anything to declare?”
“No…nothing but our insanity!”

You can see me in this one taking the picture. A Beatles song comes to me now…Number Nine Number Nine Number Nine. Hey…come to think of it, I don’t look so bad from so far away.

BATHURST

COLLEGE

This was a neat little record store. We spent about $350 there. We probably would have spent even more if the conversation hadn’t been so good. There were so many things I forgot to look for. Still, it was very nice.

Yeah…we all know it’s about the cool film references…

This happens to me often…I take a picture without really seeing what is in the picture till it’s on my desktop. This girl in the left bottom corner just stuns me. She’s so delicate and beautifully rare. I’d like to know the sound she makes when she laughs and what her favorite type of tea is but alas, she’s gone. She’s just an image now. That’s almost painful to me.

I really love how delicately this woman lifts up her one foot. That one foot is an entire month of moments and movements and emotions.
MORE DOWNTOWN

The first book I bought with my own money here was when I was thirteen and bought The Blue Fairy Book. It has my favorite fairy tale ever called “The White Cat” I highly recommend it.

I like this series of three shots-how they work together.
