4/10/6 at the Mercury Lounge
I’ve already posted pictures of Voxtrot here and I found that their set was a little bit more solid with some minor techical difficulties inbetween some songs. I’m not one to really mind that unless it’s excessive and the songs themselves came off as wonderful as usual.
So what I really wanted to do is say a few things about Irving who was one of the opening bands. Based out of LA, this five piece really does play songs you can’t help but tap your foot to. Actually, although their overall sound is completely different, I did find the synthy background in songs like, “Jen Nothing Matters To Me” were rather Cure-esque but at other times they live up to the catchiness of say The Dandy Warhols. But if I were to put it really simply, I’d just say that they really sound like the type of band that would be coming out of California, atleast to me.
