The Concretes

Martyrs in Chicago 5/13/6
Oh my gosh The Concretes are one of my very favorite bands out of Sweden (and trust me, there are a ton of bands I love from Sweden and the list keeps getting longer.) The sucker punch sweetness of the lead singer, Victoria Bergsman, floors me every time and the catchiness of the songs make them stick in the pit of your stomach until you listen to them enough times. They literally leave musical residue in your brain. The Concretes, appearing with eight members, played a very well rounded set but focused more heavily on their newest album, In Colour, which I love!
The sound of them was so full and enriched and the different instruments and vocals seemed to enchant me like none other. It was a bittersweet day for me all around, having seen one of my closest friends get married at noon and this was the perfect ending to the collection of moments that filled the space of time.
Oh and I’d just like to hereby say a couple of things regarding the pictures posted (a ton of them if you click on more or the blog title) First, Victoria had the most beautiful gestures that it recalled several Milan Kundera passages. Maria rocked out and Lisa drummed for all songs except for coming front and center to sing the soft sweet heartbreaking, “Your Call” during an encore performance.
