Starlight Mints

Subterranean in Chicago 5/24/6

The Starlight Mints are quirky in all of the right ways. I had missed them once before at a street festival opening for The Flaming Lips and unfortunately, they had been put on the stage early much to my disappointment. I’m a real fan of their first album: 2000’s The Dream That Stuff Was Made Of but I found myself enjoying the new ones performed live as well. Hailing from Oklahoma, this band was aptly paired with The Octopus Project considering their commitment to eccentricity by way of postmodern pop sensibility. My only real regret is that they did not play my favorite song of theirs, the fantastically catchy and happiness inducing “Popsicle” which you can view off of their myspace page along with sound samples.

Seriously, watch that video!
